I carry special interest and experience in the following areas: interpersonal/relational issues; work-life balance/stress-related conditions; chronic disease management and holistic nutrition; grief/bereavement; existential psychology; and the integration of Eastern medicinal and/or indigenous practices for personal growth/transition across the lifespan. In addition to my clinical work with individual and couples, I periodically run psychoeducational group workshops for couples experiencing mild to moderate relationship distress.
Basing my work in a holistic frame, I believe that the source for all healing and positive, lasting change is rooted in the mind-body-spirit triad, as well as the family-community connection. In a clinical setting, my focus is to assist clients of all ages and histories in 're-authoring' their life stories – that is to access those resources that may guide them towards improved daily life functioning, as well as towards healthier, more sustainable and connective relations with their supportive others. Using a variety of treatment modalities, I tailor the therapeutic experience to best match each client's needs at any given point in therapy.
While my formal training has been in family systems with components of cognitive-based therapies, my work has expanded to include experiential and body-centered therapies, such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Hakomi (Mindfulness-based), and Somatic Experiencing Therapy. To support the recovery from post-traumatic stress and forms of complex trauma, I combine components of Cognitive Processing Therapy and Somatic Experiencing Therapy.
